There are two main types of freezing agents used in commercial popsicle machines:
- Brines:
Salt water brine: This is a traditional option, but it can be corrosive to the machine, requires regular maintenance to prevent rust. - Food-grade antifreeze:
Propylene glycol (USP/NF grade): This is the most common and recommended option for commercial popsicle machines. It is non-toxic, food-grade, and it doesn’t corrode the machine and requires minimal maintenance.
